Jewelry
has always excited me... I appreciate the design,
texture, structure, color, aura, & even the smell of
jewelry. A true passion, you could say!
As a Central
Massachusetts native, I spent many early childhood
weekends trolling yard sales. Purchasing bags of
unwanted, discarded jewelry, I would disassemble the
baubles and restring the pieces to my liking with great
fascination and determination. I have always
wanted to wear
unique
pieces and have customized my own collection with
accessories I created. I went through phases of
creating jewelry with computer chips, telephone wire,
puzzle pieces, fimo clay, macramé, household utensils,
or any object which appealed to me.
My fondness for
art also drove me to create in various media and to
explore a variety of art classes. I took my first
lampworking/bead making class in the fall of 2000 and
have been addicted to working with glass ever since!
Currently
I am using two different processes to form my glass
creations: lampworking (also known as
flameworking) and slumping/fusing. Besides my
ever-growing love for creating glass 'pieces of
conversation', I also dabble in painting, wood carving,
dyeing fabric, beading clothing, clothing design,
welding, soldering, and mosaic design.
I have studied with a variety of glass artisans...
